Second Job

Postby jnjblogger on November 25th, 2007, 12:50 am

I know it is not glamorous or a quick fix, but has anyone taken on a second job to pay down debt or build up their savings? I have thought about working just a few hours a week at a nearby retail store and using that money to pay off the remainder of my mortgage. I am just not sure if I have the energy to do that plus keep up with my family obligations. Do you think it pays to get a second job, or is it a quick path to burning out?

It really depends on each person's situation. If you are able to work overtime at your normal job I would recommend that option first. If more hours at your regular job is not an option then taking on a second job is something to think about. The first thing you want to do is find a job that is relatively easy and that you will like. If you find something that you can do and it doesnt bother you then it is not that draining. Also, having the extra money around can be a big burden off of your back.
