The Point System still attractive?

Postby gscs on November 24th, 2007, 1:12 am

I found that the Point System used by most credit card company become less interest to me. They should have a new resulotion in order to attract more users and also to retain existing customers. You got to spend so much just for a gift. But better than nothing.

I think points are not as popular anymore. Cash back reward cards are popular as well as airline rewards. These cards attract a lot of people as these cards offers some pretty good deals in terms of what you get back like cash for using the card or airline miles. If you are a responsible consumer and credit card owner and NEVER spend more than you can afford and pay your balances on time these cards are pretty darn good to have for some extra rewards. Always though use your credit responsibly.

I am not thrilled with point rewards. For me, the problem lies in how the points can be redeemed. Sometimes they can only be redeemed for things that are of little or no interest to me. The other thing with points is that I forget to redeem them. For me, cash back is the best reward that a credit card company can offer.

As others have mentioned, the cash back option as well as the airlines reward is more popular and appealing to consumers nowadays. Everyone wants $, and almost everyone travels at least once a year to go on vacation or so.

I find that the items that you can redeem the points for are often blatant rip offs. They are cheap electronics which they seem to give a higher value to, and I find no use for them. A while back though I did fall for it, and redeemed a key board cleaner. Once I received it, it wasn't that good. From that point on I stopped redeeming electronics. I think they also offer magazines, that's a better deal.

The points do not appeal to me at all. The only good thing about is if I get enough points then I don't need to pay the annual fee. Wish they would start offering something new.

I also think that points systems are not working properly and I don't like these kinds of tricks which are not useable to the users at all.
