Discover Card Cash Back

Postby jnjblogger on November 23rd, 2007, 7:48 pm

I am partial to Discover Card's cash back rewards program. I use my card for routine expenses such as groceries and gasoline, so these rewards really add up. The card I have offers 5% cash back on gasoline purchases, and with the rising cost of fuel, this really adds up. I prefer a cash back type reward system, as I am able to spend the money any way I choose.

That sounds really good. Do they have a point system as well? In that case you can get some major savings!

I'm also fond of Discover's Cash Back system, as you said after a while it does rack up some savings.

And it's better to get something back, rather than nothing. I'm not that big of a fan of the points system so I tend to use the Discover card more. However, another decent card is the one offered by Toys R Us. While an adult might not buy anything there for themselves, if you have a children or have an upcoming event that requires a gift, it might come in handy. They give you a form of cash back, but it's actually a gift certificate valid only at their store. But as I said, you could use it to buy someone a gift, and they do have some items that appeal to adults, like movies and if you play games, they have a vast amount of PC and video games.

I may have to look into getting a discover card if the cash back rewards are this good. I only have a debit car right now but was looking to into getting a credit card as a way to build a credit history. Seems like the discover card is the way to go.

I really don't know if Discover offers a point system in addition to their cash back rewards program. They do have a lot of information on their website, so check them out. If you are disciplined with paying your card off every month, you can use it to pay for all sorts of things such as medical bills, etc., which really boosts the cash back.
