Has anybody had any experiances with the debt restructering services? I always see advertisements on the TV for them and I was wondering if they really work? I never understood how you would be able to lower your monthly payments and be able to get out of debt sooner then before. Are these services for real or a sham?

I have known some people who have had very poor experiences with these companies. They are supposed to negotiate a lower balance with the companies, but some of them never do what they promise. I have known people who paid fees up front to these companies and were told the credit card companies would no longer bother them, yet they kept getting calls. Personally, I would never bother with one of these places.
