Disposing the mail

Postby MasterKard on November 24th, 2007, 2:42 pm

You'll often get a bunch of credit card offers in the mail, and while some don't contain much confidential information, others do. And if someone were to stumble upon such info, they could possibly activate the card under your name and use it for malicious purposes. While the chances of that are not so high, identity theft is no joke, and can give you headaches later on. So it's best to be safe, than sorry in the long run. I always shred these offers as soon as I'm done reading them. If you don't have a shredder, I urge to slice it up with a scissor instead then. Don't just dump it in the trash without cutting it up a bit as your just making it easier for any possible identity theft crook out there.

In some areas, thieves will take these offers right out of a person's mailbox. This made me nervous, so I signed up to stop having these offers come to my home. I don't recall what the URL was, but there was a place online where a person could enter their address and bring an end to these offers coming in the mail. If I run across the link/URL, I'll post it.

Please please please do share the link once you know the link. It would be a great help to all of us here to stop those spam mail. It gets annoying sometimes.
