eBay

While a lot of people claim that you could get rich off eBay, if your new to it, just think of it as a way to get some cash for stuff you don't need.

Some items worth selling on eBay:

Used/new books, movies, video games, computers, collectibles

However, keep in mind that they will take a small % of your profit, AND that the customer has to pay for the shipping. So make sure the price and shipping total up to a reasonable amount or else no one will want to buy it off you. Old computer monitors are often heavy, so that's not worth selling on eBay due to the shipping cost.

Do people really buy them? Maybe if I were in the US I would try it. I have so many things to sell on ebay. :)

Yeah, but of course there are times that perhaps the item won't sell.

You can sell items to people from all over the world, the problem is the shipping costs. For example, if you live in Germany, your item may cost only $3 but the shipping to the USA will be higher than if it were to be shipped to Germany, and a majority of the customers are from the USA. But this doesn't mean that you won't get local shoppers, you might end up selling it to someone else who lives in Germany and they will buy it without a problem due to the lower shipping cost.

New items will generally sell well during the holidays for example if you have an unopened iPod it may sell quickly during Christmas as people might buy it to give to someone as a gift.

I always see late night commerials about how to make thousands selling items on E-bay. I never really tried it though. Seems like it would be rather hard to make money selling stuff on there because off all the other sellers.

My son has sold many items on ebay and has done quite well. He is a musician so has expensive guitars and other musical instruments. It is a lot of work, however. He spends a lot of time writing up information to describe the item, as well as taking good pictures. It seems potential buyers always have many questions to be answered, and then the winning bidder does not always deposit the money as promised. Once the transaction is arranged, the item must be packaged and shipped. To me, it seems like a lot of work. I think it is easier to get a second job :D
