I often see a lot media claiming that a online business is easy to set up and will make you tons of $. And they even offer you tips and other stuff to "help you get started." However, in reality, you either just paid them $ for that info or they are guiding you to spend more $ on probably another service that they own.

An online business is practically no different than an offline business, except that usually the costs are a bit cheaper, and you can do it from the comfort of your home. However, you still have to deal with customers, you still have to advertise, and some other factors.

And the only way to avoid customers is to make a website that produces $ off revenue. And that's not easy either... A lot of these books and "gurus" will tell you that it's easy, but it's all a myth. It's not impossible, but it's definitely not as easy as 123. With some time, patience, and trial and error you can make $ online. And as time goes on, it will get easier, but in the beginning you might find yourself struggling.

I agree with this. If this is so easy then most people who are aware of this system would be millionaires now. I've been reading a lot about making money online, most of what I learned is about making a website and putting ads on it or join any affiliate program. You may really succeed on this one but you need a lot of time and effort, even some strategy too. Congrats to those
who really made it big time on the net!

Yep, and also a lot of people to seem to fail due to the lack of time and effort.

Various successful people failed a few times in the beginning but then after a while they got the hang of it and did good. A friend of my aunt had a website that sold gifts, he paid $30 a month to keep it up, however, he didn't have full control of it. He just resold their products, and he had it for like 2 months and didn't make a dime.

Where did he find out about this "opportunity"? On TV of course...He learned his lesson after that, and I now know to avoid such things as well. (However, it was possible for him to make $ off that site if he would of somehow got a lot of interested customers, but that would of taken time and possibly money, on the TV ad it said he would be making the $ back easily which was not true..).

While I agree that making money online is not as easy as some people suggest I do think that it is very different from traditional offline business. It is much easier to own your own business online compared to owning an offline business. If you register a domain and get webhosting you can have a website up within hours. Add content about a niche that you enjoy and start building backlinks to the site. Promote the site and get visitors and you can start making money. I understand that creating content and getting backlinks takes a lot of time and enegery but it is much easier their are les expenditures when compared to starting a business offline.
